HISTORY

In 1924, Adrian Martin Visbeen, Sr., began his business as a general contractor. Before that time, he had worked with his father and uncle trading as Visbeen Brothers. In 1941, Adrian registered in Bergen County, NJ, as Visbeen Construction Company. Six years later, in 1947, the company moved into offices at our present location on Goffle Road in Ridgewood.

 

During the 1950s Adrian's two sons, Albert and Adrian, Jr., joined the company. During the 1980s, the next generation of Visbeens, David, Adrian A., James and Kenneth came to work for the company and in 1990 were welcomed as partners. Today, James owns and manages the day-to-day operations of Visbeen Construction Company with his son, Kenneth Visbeen.

 

In its early years, most of the company's work involved church, synagogue and school construction. Since its founding, Visbeen Construction has built and renovated well over 100 ecclesiastical buildings in northern New Jersey. 

Building on the experience of high-end customized construction and working with owner committees, the company moved into the country club construction field. We have since completed a number of major country club projects in northern New Jersey.

Although we entered this industry as general contractors, we have changed and adapted to the market over the years. Today construction management comprises almost 50 percent of our workload. We direct out clients to the option that best fits their needs, offering pre-construction services that include constructability review, schematic estimates and scheduling. In addition, we are experienced in LEED processes, having recently been a part of the team at the Bolger Community Center in Midland Park; a project that was awarded LEED Gold Certification. 

 

Visbeen Construction now celebrates over a century of providing excellence in building and service. Christian principles, family involvement in every phase of our work and a limited volume ensure that our customers will receive the same high level of performance, quality and integrity that established our company's reputation.
